BENCH LATHE

  • It is very small lathe mounted on a separately prepared bench or cabinet.

  • It is used for small works. It has practically all the parts of an engine lathe or speed lathe and it performs almost all the operations.

 

 

SPEED LATHE


Speed Lathe

  • This lathe do not have provision for power feed. The lathe has been named because of the very high of the headstock spindle.
  • Have no gear box
  • No carriage
  • No lead screw
  • Used for wood turning, polishing, metal spinning etc.

 

 

ENGINE LATHE ( CENTRE LATHE )

  • In old days lathe was driven by steam engine hence the name is still in existence even after modern lathe are provided with motor drive.
  • Centre lathe or Engine lathe is classified according to method of transmitting power to the machine.

CAPSTAN AND TURRET LATHE


  • These are semiautomatic type machine useful for mass production.

  • They carry special mechanisms for indexing their tool.

  • A turret lathe, a number of tools can be set up on the machine and then quickly be brought successively into working position so that a complete part can be machined without the necessity for further adjusting, changing tools, or making measurements.

AUTOMATIC LATHE


  • The automatic machine tools capable of producing identical pieces without the attention of an operator, after each piece is completed. Thus, after setting up and providing an initial supply of material, further attention beyond replenishing the material supply is not required until the dimensions of the work pieces change owing to tool wear.

  • A number of types of automatic lathes are developed that can be used for large volume manufacture application, such as single spindle automatics, Swiss type automatics, and multi-spindle automatics.

इस खराद में पावर फीड का प्रावधान नहीं है।

 हेडस्टॉक स्पिंडल के बहुत ऊंचे होने के कारण खराद का नाम रखा गया है।

कोई गियर बॉक्स नहीं है

कोई गाड़ी नहीं

कोई लीड पेंच नहीं

लकड़ी मोड़ने, चमकाने, धातु कताई आदि के लिए उपयोग किया जाता है।

पुराने दिनों में खराद भाप इंजन द्वारा संचालित होता था इसलिए आधुनिक खराद मोटर ड्राइव के साथ प्रदान किए जाने के बाद भी नाम अभी भी अस्तित्व में है।

केंद्र खराद या इंजन खराद को मशीन में शक्ति संचारित करने की विधि के अनुसार वर्गीकृत किया जाता है।

बिजली को बेल्ट, इलेक्ट्रिक मोटर या गियर के माध्यम से प्रेषित किया जा सकता है।
