WHY WORLD TRIBAL DAY CELEBRATED ON 9 AUGUST? The United Nations organized a special meeting for the Tribal on 9 August 1982. Since then, World Indigenous Day is celebrated on 9 August each year to raise awareness and protect the rights of the world’s indigenous population on this date. The event also recognizes the achievements and contributions that indigenous people make to better world issues such as environmental protection.
